Johnson C. Smith University (7-3) used a balanced offensive attack to lead the Golden Bulls to an 75-53 victory over the visiting Bobcats of Georgia College and State University (7-2). Led by the efforts of Ryan Scott (Reston, Va.) and Ronald Thornhill (Alberta, Va.), the gold and blue were able to hold GCSU to a season low 30% from the field. Jerry Hollis' 12 rebounds were tops in tonight's mauling of Georgia College and State.

The last time these two teams met was during the opening round of the 2006 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional Tournament. The Bobcats cruised to an 86-68 victory and gave JCSU a quick exit in post-season play. Tonight, it was JCSU's turn to return the favor to the Bobcats. This is GCSU's worst loss of the season since a 20-point loss to Augusta State University, a team which also gave JCSU their first and worst loss of the season by a 20+ point margin as well.

Four of the five Johnson C. Smith starters scored in double figures tonight. Ryan Scott once again led all scorers with 17 points. Freshman Ronald Thornhill had 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting while seniors Maurice Hooper (Reidsville, N.C.) and David Sanders (Buffalo, N.Y.) chipped in 11 apiece. Jerry Hollis narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds. He also had two blocks, three assists, and two steals in the victory.

Georgia College and State was paced by Shaun Keaton and Aaron Clark who both tallied 14 points each. Clark also pulled down 11 rebounds in a losing effort. Keaton, who leads the team in scoring and who was riding a four game 20+ point streak, was relegated to just 14 points. He attempted 17 three-pointers and made just four. Coming into tonight's contest, he was third in all of NCAA Division II in three point field goals made and percentage.

The Golden Bulls will travel to Richmond, Virginia on Saturday, January 5, 2008 to take on the always tough Virginia Union University Panthers. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Barco-Stevens Hall.
