It's always captivating when Saint Paul's College and Johnson C. Smith University play in men's basketball. After all, it's only big brother going against little brother. The younger Joyner, Steve who is the longtime head coach of the Golden Bulls, has won the last six meetings over his older brother Ed. After tonight, make it seven in a row as JCSU dropped the Tigers 77-67.

The Golden Bulls, like their female counterparts earlier, set-up a pretty decent lead in the first stanza; going up by as many as 21. Joyner used every player dressed in uniform tonight to improve his team's record to 10-5, 4-3 in conference play.

The second half was not much different as the gold and blue swelled the lead to as many as 30 points. That's when the younger Joyner (Steve) used his entire 14-man roster to make the score a more respectable 77-67.

Jerry Hollis (Charlotte, N.C.) led all JCSU scorers with 13 points and 11 rebounds. James Dillard (Apex, N.C.) chipped in 10 points.

SPC really missed the presence of the CIAA's leading scorer Jack Browne, who is sidelined with an injury. Coming into the contest, Browne averaged 22.9 points per game. Bruce Royal led the Tiger offensive attack, with 16 points. Fellow teammates, Maurice Reevey, Marcus Mitchell, and Adrian Moffatt rounded out the double digit scorers 14, 11, and 11, points respectively.

JCSU will now prepare to play St. Augustine's College on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Raleigh, N.C. Saint Paul's will travel to Raleigh, N.C. to take on the Bears of Shaw University, also on Tuesday.
