Men's BasketballJCSU to Host 3rd Annual Basketball Frenzy

Johnson C. Smith University will host the third annual "Basketball Frenzy" on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 9 p.m. in Brayboy Gymnasium. This event ,which is similar to the coveted "Midnight Madness", looks to showcase the 2007-08 editions of the men's and women's basketball teams. The festivities begin at 9 p.m. with performances by Precious Jewels of Christ Dance Troupe, Fa-Sho Modeling Troupe, and a special performance by young, up-and-coming artist "Ace". The International Institution of Sound Marching Band and the Luv-a-Bull cheerleaders will also put on a show. After the lights go down and the teams are introduced, the men's and women's teams will hold Gold/Blue scrimmages. Student competitions include a slam dunk contest, a chant contest, a "Guess How Much is in the Cart contest" sponsored by Food Lion and a half-court shootout worth a grand prize of a $250 book voucher for the spring semester. Giveaways will be conducted throughout the two hour program. Otis Stroud, the voice of Golden Bulls will emcee the event. Doors open at 8:30 p.m. and admission is just $1. The Coca-Cola Community Connection will provide free food and drinks (while supplies last). The men's team will hold an open scrimmage tomorrow, November 6, vs. Pfeiffer University at 7 p.m. in the gym.
