Puryear and Brewer Selected to Participate in 2007 NCAA Men's Football Coaching Academy



Puryear just completed his second season as an assistant coach and his first as the defensive coordinator

Eric Puryear, Sr., defensive coordinator and Jonathan Brewer, wide receivers coach, both of Johnson C. Smith University have been selected to participate in the 2007 NCAA Men's Football Coaching Academy (Academy) as announced by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Academy will be held June 30-July 2, 2007, Indianapolis, Indiana.

Puryear just completed his second season as an assistant coach but his first as the defensive coordinator at JCSU. Brewer just finished his initial season as the wide receivers coach.

The Academy will assist minority football coaches who have a desire to secure head football coaching positions. All programs within the Academies will be administered by the NCAA with support from the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA), the Black Coaches Association (BCA) and the National Football League (NFL).

The Academy is designed to improve and reinforce various aspects of securing, managing and excelling in head football coaching positions at the intercollegiate level.

Recognized football coaches, leaders in athletics and higher education will serve as faculty for the three-day workshop.
