A Look Ahead...Johnson C. Smith will head into the heart of conference play beginning with the defending eastern division champions of Virginia Union University.

Rebuilding the O-Line-AGAIN...Coach McNeill, who also serves as the offensive coordinator, has decided to rework the offensive line yet again. Marques Reese will take on the center role, Rashaun Curry returns to LT, freshman Geno Barnett will get another shot at LG, Devin Backman will re-enter the lineup at RG and junior transfer Tyreece Williams will play the RT position.

Golden Bulls Look for Better Run Stoppage...Johnson C. Smith University knows that in order to be successful they must improve in that area this year. Certainly part of the reason for the Golden Bulls’ struggles last season against the run are related to the fact that the Bulls lost key members of the linebacking unit and were bit heavily by the injury bug.

Third Down Struggles…The Golden Bulls have converted just 13-of-35 third down attempts.

Golden Bulls Hopes for Improvement in Running Game...There’s no doubt that for JCSU to make improvements in its offensive consistency that the Golden Bulls need to become more productive with their running attack. McNeill has several people to go to with Kevin Allen, Kevin Hall, Robert Evans, Divine Carter and the Bulls will anticipate the return of Archie Barrow in a couple weeks.

Montgomery Leads in Tackles in First Start…Sophomore Lawyer Montgomery has made the most of his first career starts in the first two games of the 2008 season. The Buffalo, N.Y. native leads the Golden Bulls in tackles with 20 total tackles, one pass break-up and an interception.

Franklin Keeps on Catching...Jeremy Franklin enters the VSU game having caught at least one pass in 12 consecutive games, which happens to be every game he has played in his collegiate career. The redshirt sophomore has 869 career yards and 7 touchdowns in his young career.
