Johnson C. Smith looked like a team that was playing with excitement, scoring on five of their first six drives (5 consecutive). Making minimal mistakes, the Bulls marched their way to 44 points by the end of the first half. The always classy McNeill used reserves the entire second stanza to score just three points and keep the score under 50.

Smith (1-4) has won two straight meetings in the series against Livingstone (1-4) and held the Blue Bears to just seven points last year. However, Livingstone’s defense has been very productive through the last two games, holding opponents to an average of 12.5 points.
• Sophomore Corey Burnett had arguable his best outing of the season with three solo tackles, two for a loss of six yards, a sack for a loss of five yards and a safety..
A Look Ahead...Johnson C. Smith will return play the second of a two game home stand vs. the always defensively stout Saint Augustine’s College.
We Need This One...A win against Livingstone will definitely keep JCSU in contention for a possible championship appearance. The Bulls need to win all of their remaining games and hope that Fayetteville State or Shaw loses a game or two before the end of the regular season.
Home Sweet Home...After four of the five first football games being on the road, JCSU will have four of the five last games at home. The Golden Bulls’ only victory thus far came within the friendly confines of the Irwin Belk Complex.
Watch Out for Earles…Livingstone’s Anthony Earles is a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball. He not only has 18 total tackles, he leads the conference in tackles for loss, forced fumbles (3) and tied for third in fumble recoveries.
Minimize Mistakes, Capitalize on Theirs...Head coach Daryl McNeill has been preaching this concept all season long. JCSU must take care of the football and limit mistakes. However, the Bulls need to capitalize on LC’s mistakes and score early.
It’s Good – PAT’s That Is…Livingstone has not missed a single PAT, converting on 9-of-9 point after touchdown attempts. LC’s perfection is good for first place in the CIAA.
Franklin Keeps on Catching...Jeremy Franklin enters the LC game having caught at least one pass in 15 consecutive games, which happens to be every game he has played in his collegiate career. The redshirt sophomore has 1,218 career yards and 10 touchdowns in his young career.
