The Last Meeting…Fayetteville State University came to Charlotte, N.C. with a plan on their mind. They needed a win to stay alive in the hunt for the western division crown, and they wanted to avenge last season's loss to the Golden Bulls. JCSU wanted to give their fans, alumni, and especially JCSU president Dr. Dorothy Cowser Yancy a Homecoming victory. Unfortunately, Fayetteville State emerged victorious by a score of 31-21 in front of 7,239 Golden Bull fans.

QUICK NOTES •Fayetteville State (5-2) spoiled JCSU’s homecoming last season and the Golden Bulls (2-5) are looking to return the favor. On paper, FSU should have the clear cut advantage, but the last two times FSU has scheduled JCSU for their homecoming, the Golden Bulls have not made the easiest opponent. In 2003, JCSU lost 30-26 and in 2005, JCSU lost 34-23.
· Senior quarterback Carlton Richardson is number one on the JCSU all-time total offense with 5,561 yards (4,808 passing, 753 rushing). He also moved to third on the school’s all-time passing list with his performance against Livingstone. Richardson now has 4,808 passing yards. In terms of CIAA history, Richardson is now 7th all-time in total offense and 14th all-time in pass offense. · Sophomore place kicker Julius Wright broke the 25-year old school field goal record previously held by Anthony Wicker (1983) with his 48-yarder against Saint Augustine’s.
A Look Ahead...Johnson C. Smith will return home to take on the Chowan University Hawks for Homecoming 2008.
Golden Bull Players of the Week…JCSU freshman offensive lineman Geno Barnett and senior linebacker Billy Graham were named CIAA Players of the Week at their respective positions for their contributions in the huge win over Saint Augustine’s College. Barnett, going up against arguably the best defensive line in the conference helped provide protection for JCSU to gain 275 yards of total offense but more importantly, two late touchdowns to propel the Golden Bulls to victory. Graham had 12 total tackles, one for a loss of three yards, a forced fumble and a huge safety that put JCSU to within one point and the eventual win over the Falcons.
Bears Cheering on Golden Bulls…A JCSU win over Fayetteville State will all but ruin their chances of a championship game appearance. The Shaw Bears will be strongly cheering on the Golden Bulls because that would give them a one-game advantage in addition to the head-to-head advantage over FSU.
B&B Boys…Fayetteville State’s quarterback duo of Ben Williams and Bryan Hardy have combined for 1,276 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Strong Leg…Sophomore kicker/punter Julius Wright leads the conference in punting averaging 37.2 yards per punt.
Stop the Medlin…Fayetteville State’s Richard Medlin is definitely on the Golden Bulls’ radar as someone to contain. The sophomore leads his team in touchdowns scored (10), rushing yards (453), kickoff return yardage (385). He has returned two kick-offs for touchdowns this season.
Harden Hitting…JCSU sophomore linebacker Colby Harden put on a show for his hometown crowd as he led all defenders with 15 total tackles, 1.5 for a loss of a yard and a fumble recovery in the win over SAC.
Franklin Keeps on Catching...Jeremy Franklin enters the FSU game having caught at least one pass in 17 consecutive games, which happens to be every game he has played in his collegiate career. The redshirt sophomore has 1,416 career yards and 12 touchdowns in his young career.
A Golden Bull Win Will... Give JCSU their third win of the 2008 season Give JCSU their second conference win All but ruin FSU’s chances of a championship game appearance
