Three Golden Bulls Receive Weekly Conference Honors - September 3, 2006

Senior wide receiver Marquis Belton, sophomore quarterback Carlton Richardson, and head coach Daryl C. McNeill garnered weekly honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) after defeating Glenville State College 23-20 on Saturday (Sep. 2).

Belton had five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown late in the fourth quarter which put the Golden Bulls ahead earning him CIAA Wide Receiver of the Week honors. This is Belton's second consecutive wide receiver of the week honors in the young season.

Richardson, a sophomore from Columbia, SC was named CIAA Offensive Back of the Week. He ignited a stellar offense completing 13 of 19 passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball nine times for 45 yards putting him over the 200 offensive yardage mark on the day.

Second year head coach Daryl C. McNeill was named CIAA Coach of the Week. He directed his team to an impressive 23-20 come-from-behind victory over Glenville State propelling JCSU to their best start since 1982 (2-0). The Bulls amassed 347 yards of total offense and held the Pioneers to a mere 84 yards on the ground.

The gold and blue will be back in action this Saturday, September 9, 2006 as they play host to Bowie State University. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Irwin Belk Complex on campus. For tickets call (704) 378-1260.
