Three Golden Bulls Named to CIAA All-Conference Team

Nov. 7, 2006

Three Golden Bulls were recently named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football All-Conference team as voted on by the league's football coaches. De'Audra Dix, Donald "DJ" Haynesworth, and Ed Wilson were all named to the team after largely contributing to their team's 7-3 overall record.

Dix (Merritt Island, FL) was named to the first team on offense and defense as a kick-returner and cornerback. He becomes just the second player in JCSU history (Craig Brown, 2002) to be named all-conference on both sides of the ball. Dix was ranked fourth in the nation in kick-off returns averaging 31.3 yards per return. He had three returns brought back for touchdowns on the season being the only player in the conference to accomplish such a feat. He was also nationally ranked at number 14 in passes defended in which he had 13 break-ups and three interceptions. He also had 21 tackles, one forced fumble, and four blocked kicks.

Haynesworth, a senior from Greensboro, NC was named to the second team as a defensive tackle. Haynesworth had 64 tackles on the season 7.5 for a loss of 31 yards, 4.5 sacks for a loss of 26 yards, one interception, two pass break-ups, seven quarterback hurries, and one blocked kick.

Wilson (Elliott, SC) is the leading tackler in all of NCAA Division II with 109 total tackles. He is averaging just over 12 tackles per game. He is ranked first in the conference in total tackles and is fifth in the conference in forced fumbles and fumbles received. He was named first-team at the linebacker position.

Though not advancing to the CIAA championship game, there is still a strong possibility that the Golden Bulls will participate in the Pioneer Bowl on December 2, 2006 at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, NC. Official word will come out early next week.
