JCSU Men's Tennis Falls to Lees-McRae 8-1



Sophomore Aaron Hutcherson teamed up with Jamil Jones to win at #2 Doubles

Final Stats

The Lees-McRae Bobcats swept the singles matches and captured two of the three doubles in their 8-1 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls in Charlotte, NC Tuesday afternoon in non-conference tennis action. With the win, the Bobcats move to 3-0 on the season while Golden Bulls drop to 3-3.

At the #1 singles it was Bobcat freshman, Nandor Solymosi defeating junior Romar Douglas (St. George, Bermuda), 6-0,6-4. Shaun Sumner and Alek Mojski playing #2 and #3 respectively, defeated their Golden Bulls opponents . Travis VanHoy at #4 and Mike Ridenhour at #5, gave up only three games between them in securing the victories at those spots. Sophomore Blair Propert played well, winning his match 6-3, 6-1.

In doubles action, the Bobcats duo of Sumner/Solymosi outlasted the Golden Bulls combo of Douglas/Jason Stuckey 8-5. The Golden Bulls managed to pull out a win at #2 doubles, with Aaron Hutcherson/Jamil Jones defeating Mojski/Romulus Teague (Hickory, NC) 8-4. The Bobcats #3 doubles, freshmen VanHoy/Ridenhour, were able to continue their winning ways, coming out ahead 8-3 for the match and finalizing the 8-1 win for the squad.

Johnson C. Smith moves on to face Benedict College this Saturday, Feb. 9 at 1 p.m. in Charlotte, N.C.
