Golden Bulls Finish Second at Annual CIAA Men's Tennis Championship



Senior Romar Douglas contested for both a singles and doubles championship but fell just short

The Johnson C. Smith University men's tennis team finished second at the annual CIAA Men's Tennis Championships held on the campus of Virginia State University. The Golden Bulls finished with 51 total points en route to the runner-up title.

JCSU contested for the numbers two-four and number six singles spots but fell just short to the eventual champions of Shaw University. The Golden Bulls also played for the number one and two doubles championships but fell 8-3 in both matches to the Bears.

In the No. 2 Singles, Shaw's No. 1 seed Milos Stankovic defeated Johnson C. Smith's No. 2 seed Romar Douglas 6 - 1, 6 - 0.

In the No. 3 Singles, Shaw's No. 1 seed Medhi Ben Cheikh defeated Johnson C. Smith's No. 2 seed Aaron Hutcherson 6 - 1, 6 - 1.

In the No. 4 Singles, Shaw's No. 1 seed Kalada Kienka defeated Johnson C. Smith's No. 2 seed Jamil Jones 6 - 2, 6 - 2.

In the No. 6 Singles, Shaw's No. 1 seed Alexandro Ordonez defeated Johnson C. Smith's No. 2 seed Andrew Anglin in three matches by a result of 3 - 6, 6 - 4, 6 - 1.

Senior Romar Douglas played his final match in a JCSU uniform while the the rest of the team can look forward to next season. Romar Douglas, Aaron Hutcherson, Jamil Jones, and Jason Stuckey were all named to the 2008 All-CIAA Men's Tennis team.
