JCSU Women Close Out Regular Season with 85-48 Win Over Lincoln (Pa.)

Demetria Bell (Indianapolis, Ind.) was one of four Lady Golden Bulls in double figures as Johnson C. Smith University downed the visiting Lincoln University of Pennsylvania Lady Lions, 85-48 in women's basketball action. She also had 15 rebounds and three assists in the victory.

JCSU's 85 points were the second most points scored all season long. The ladies had a 91 point performance at Fayetteville State in January.

Smith controlled the boards out-rebounding Lincoln 66 to 35 and shot 44% from the field compared to 25% for the visitors. Noel Webster led the Pantherettes with 16 points. DeJuanna Mosley was the only Lincoln player with double-double scoring 11 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Red hot senior Amber Stoney (Orlando, Fla.) recorded her second double-double in as many games with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow seniors Rochelle Bodie (Raleigh, N.C.) and Shemika Jones (Largo, Md.) contributed 14 and 10 points respectively in their last game in Brayboy gymnasium.

The win extends JCSU's winning streak to two games, heading into the coveted CIAA basketball tournament. JCSU's record is now 19-8 overall while the loss drops Lincoln to 7-17.

JCSU will await the official CIAA seedings which will be released tomorrow morning. It appears as if JCSU will have the #3 seed and will have a bye, possibly playing the #6 seed Saint Paul's College on Tuesday evening.
