Nov. 14, 2007

The February 16, 2008 women's basketball contest between host Shaw University and Johnson C. Smith University has been selected by the NCAA Division II Presidents Council and the NCAA Division II Media Advisory Group as the NCAA Division II Basketball Game of the Week and will be shown live on College Sports Television (CSTV). The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and CSTV have partnered to offer these games on CSTV, allowing college basketball fans to view the high level of athletic competition that Division II offers.

Women's basketball fans can watch the CIAA game, scheduled for a 12 noon tip-off at Broughton High School live on tv or via the internet at www.ncaasports.com/dii. The contest is just one of three Division II women's basketball games selected as part of the basketball package. CSTV, which is seen by 23 million households across the nation, can be viewed on DIRECTV channel 610 and DISH Network channel 152. Women's basketball fans should check their local cable listings for the CSTV channel in their area.

"The Johnson C. Smith University athletic department, the CIAA, and the NCAA has a major focus regarding providing exposure for our women's basketball programs," said athletics director Steve Joyner, Sr. "We are delighted to be a part of this featured event against Shaw University." This marks the first time a women's basketball contest involving Johnson C. Smith University has been chosen for a live broadcast through the NCAA. The Lady Golden Bulls, 16-14 overall in 2006-2007, are picked to finish tied for second in the CIAA's western division.

The Lady Golden Bulls open the 2007-2008 season against Newberry as part of the Queen City Classic on November 16. Game time is 6 p.m. at Ovens Athletic Center on the campus of Queen's University.

This is the second year of the NCAA Division II Regular Season TV and Broadband Package and once again, NCAA Productions will produce several regular season football (4), men's basketball (3) and women's basketball (3) games that will air live on College Sports Television (CSTV) and NCAA Productions syndication affiliates (i.e. Regional Sports Networks).
