#17 Bloomsburg Sweeps JCSU Softball 12-0 and 10-0

Johnson C. Smith University (0-6) hosted the visiting Huskies of Bloomsburg University (PA) (5-4) in softball action this afternoon. Bloomsburg shut-out the Lady Golden Bulls by a score of 12-0 and 10-0 to improve to 5-4 overall. The Huskies hurler, junior Ashley Lynn, pitched a no-hitter in five innings of work. Her defense also helped her out tremendously as Bloomsburg had an error-free game.

In game one, the Lady Golden Bulls held Bloomsburg scoreless in the first inning but the Huskies would score in the other four innings to take the 12-0 lead. Bloomsburg did most of their damage in the third inning scoring six runs on six hits. Lynn struck out seven of the 15 batters she faced.

Game two was not much different than the first other than pitcher Nicole Villarreal (San Antonio, TX) recording JCSU's only hit of the game to end the potential no-hitter. She went one-for-two on the day. Alyssa English was the offensive powerhouse for Bloomsburg as she went 2-for-2 on the afternoon, both hits were homeruns. Missy Bachert went went 3-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Johnson C. Smith moves on to face Morris College on Friday, March 16, 2007 at 3:00 pm while Bloomsburg continues their spring break tour as they will face Belmont-Abbey College tomorrow.
