March 21, 2008

Final Stats

The Good Friday holiday was a great one for the Johnson C. Smith University Lady Golden Bulls as they improved to 4-4 overall, 4-0 in conference play with a doubleheader sweep over the Saint Augustine's College 8-0 and 11-0. The Lady Falcons dropped to 2-12 overall, 1-6 in league play.

In game one, freshman Allycia Watanabe (Waipahu, Hawaii) struck out seven of the 17 batters she faced, holding the Lady Falcons to just two hits en route to the 8-0 shutout. Offensively, Watanabe got things started in the third inning, with a double that scored Kawehionapau Chan (Hawai'i Kai, Hawaii) and Nijah Braddox (Brooklyn, N.Y.). The inning proved to be worse for the Lady Falcons, as four more Golden Bulls crossed the plate before the inning was over.

JCSU scored two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning while holding Saint Augustine's to three-up, and three-down to end the game via the eight run mercy rule.

JCSU moves to play Claflin on Monday, March 24, 2008. Game time is at 1 p.m. at Biddleville Park.
