Final Stats

The Johnson C. Smith University softball team extended their win streak to six games with a doubleheader sweep of Claflin University at Biddleville Park. The Lady Golden Bulls won the first game 6-3 and prevailed to a 19-17 win in game two.

Game two started off well for the gold and blue but turned sour quickly. JCSU built up a seven run lead (8-1) heading into the fourth inning, but the upset-minded Pantherettes began to get their offense going, scoring nine runs on eight hits.

JCSU would retaliate and score five runs in consecutive innings while holding Claflin to seven to secure the two-run victory. The Hawaiian duo of Kawehionapua Chan and Watanabe were perfect at the plate. Chan went 5-for-5, including three doubles and drove in two runs. Watanabe went 3-for-3 batting in 3 runs.

Claflin drops to 8-25 overall while JCSU improves to 6-4.

JCSU won't have much time to rest as they host Morris College tomorrow, March 25 at 3 p.m. The games will take place at Biddleville Park.
