Final Stats

The Converse College Valkyries defeated Johnson C. Smith University 9-0 at home on Thursday afternoon. With this win, the Valkyries improve to 2-6 on the year, while the Golden Bulls drop to 1-13.

Converse claimed all three double points, capturing its first doubles sweep of the season. Senior Ive Jardim teamed up with sophomore Rachel Wilkes at the No. 1 position and defeated Jennifer Lee and Brittany Laws 9-8 (7). At the No. 2 spot, the duo of freshman Lindsey Kelly and sophomore Lee Cantey beat Jae Hargett and Melissa Shuler 8-1. The Valkyries then claimed the third doubles point by default.

In singles action, Kelly competed at the No. 2 position and defeated Hargett in a dominating performance, 6-2, 6-0.

Valkyrie freshman, Francesca Mayer, also had a strong performance at No. 5 singles. She defeated Czarina Moore, 6-1, 6-1.

JCSU's next match will be Wednesday, March 26th vs. Saint Augustine's College at 1 p.m.
