Johnson C. Smith University tennis coach James Cuthbertson, Jr. has announced Southwest Guilford High tennis standout Cameron Chatman has signed to play for the Golden Bulls next season.

"I chose Johnson C. Smith because I liked the campus, the people, the coach and I love the team," said Chatman. "I also love the city of Charlotte."

Coach James Cuthbertson was elated at the prospect of Cameron joining the Golden Bulls.

"Her two handed backhand and forehand and all aspects of her game are wonderful. She will truly give the Golden Bulls a boost," he said. "We are extremely proud and privileged to receive a student and an athlete the caliber of Cameron."

"Cameron is an important piece of the puzzle for us," he continued "We believe that she can contend for top honors in the conference and possibly help lead us to a CIAA championship."

Cameron is the daughter of Junius and Karris Chatman of High Point, North Carolina. Her father is the tennis pro at Oak Hollow in High Point and played at the University of North Carolina. Her mother has been very active in Cameron's tennis career also keeping her in junior tournaments.
