Volleyball Team Closes Regular Season with 3-0 Loss to Livingstone

Final Stats

The Johnson C. Smith University volleyball team hosted their final match in Brayboy Gymnasium against their rivals Livingstone College. Livingstone defeated JCSU three games to none (28-26, 25-21, 25-23) in the regular season finale for both schools.

Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Young-Jones (Asheville, N.C.) led the attack for the Golden Bulls with 10 kills and seven digs. Sophomore Shawntanna Proctor (Shelby, N.C.) added seven kills and 13 digs in the loss.

Sophomore outside hitter Davia Moss led all offensive players with 13 kills on 33 attempts. Melissa Penson and Mariangle Perez chipped in 14 and eight digs respectively.

The win improves Livingstone to 14-7 overall, 7-5 in conference play and 4-3 in the division. JCSU drops to 8-17, 4-8 in the CIAA and 3-4 in the division.

The Golden Bulls will hit the road on Thursday for the 2008 CIAA Volleyball Championship Tournament to be held on November 7-9 in Hampton, Virginia.
